Chakwera exchanges pleasantries with Perici

“I feel so proud to be in Malawi today,” he said.

On his part, Chakwera assured the new envoy that his government will tirelessly engage the Holy See in many aspects of development going forward.

Perici, who will be resident in Zambia, arrived in the country early yesterday through Kamuzu International Airport.

He was appointed by the head of the Catholic Church and Bishop of Rome, Pope Francis in June 2023 to replace Monsignor Gian Franco Gallone who is now serving in Uruguay.

The Holy See is the government of the Roman Catholic Church, which operates from Vatican City State, a sovereign territory surrounded by Rome in Italy.

Malawi has maintained bilateral relations with the Holy See since 1966.
